The only reality shows I watch are The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise, which sounds like an alarming amount now that I’ve listed them all out like that. But I am actually a reluctant The Bachelor franchise convert. I never watched the show until some of my friends insisted it was mindless fun a couple summers ago. Quickly, it became a reason to gather with my friends every Monday and drink questionable amounts of wine while watching people making questionable life decisions. It gave me, a chronic overthinker, a reason to not think for two straight hours once a week for many weeks.
My favorite thing about the show, though, has nothing to do with the show. It’s the contestants' off-show presence. Also known as their very online presence. It is often unhinged and chaotic. They love to TikTok even when we’ve asked them to stop (Peter, please for the love of God, stop). They live to tell strangers happy birthday on Cameo. They feel compelled to put a rose emoji, along with a scripture verse, in their Instagram bios. Some of them will go on to alarmingly show they don’t know how to pronounce the word gnocchi. And even though we have no idea what most of them are thinking at any given time, we do know that they will certainly continue to make questionable decisions (mostly TikToks) in the real world, in matching workout sets and Bala bangles. Sometimes, though, they act normal while wearing really cute jewelry brands.
Although that last part sounds like a joke. It’s not. I’m serious! While my brain definitely hates the amount of Bachelor contestant content I have consumed on every social media platform possible, my wallet is somewhat grateful for the recent Made by Mary jewelry discovery that I’ve made because of it. Contestants like Cassie Randolph, Tayshia Adams, and Andi Dorfman have all worn the affordable jewelry before. And the brand’s whimsical disc necklaces, stud earrings, and personalized chain bracelets look like the type of simple, subtle gold jewelry everyone is wearing right now, for a fraction of the price.
Best of all, as far as I can tell, all they’ve done is look cute while wearing Made by Mary jewelry at beaches, ski-resorts, and home. No questionable decisions. Just very excellent jewelry-layering choices. Maybe someone should send them to pilot Pete, who continues to make questionable TikToks with the contestant he eliminated months ago. If only they had a necklace with a paper plane drawing on it.
