Lady Gaga set an impossibly high bar with her arrival on the Met Gala 2019 red carpet on Monday night.
Even Vogue‘s editor-in-chief and host for the evening, Anna Wintour, was completely taken with the pop star’s arrival antics which included four outfit changes, all designed by her longtime friend and collaborator Brandon Maxwell.
The editrix couldn’t suppress her enthusiasm for the singer’s red carpet performance. “When asked how anyone could compete, she yelled back: ‘They can’t!’” according to a tweet from Ramin Setoodeh, the NY bureau chief for Variety.
And it’s clear from the photos of the night alone that Wintour enjoyed herself, smiling and laughing with her guests from the top of the stairs while taking in the whole dance number.
