On Sunday night, Viola Davis‘ daughter made her fashion week debut — and it was a family occasion.
As part of Paris Fashion Week, L’Oréal hosted a “Walk Your Worth” runway show at the Eiffel Tower. During the event, several A-list stars joined the models on stage, including Davis, her husband Julius Tennon, and their 13-year-old daughter Genesis.
Genesis, who isn’t often seen in public, looked beautiful in her brightly colored floor-length gown. The stunning seafoam number featured a loose but flattering trumpet-style silhouette with a slightly ruched bodice. The bust was decorated with rhinestones, and the neckline was trimmed in long, wispy feathers. Dainty spaghetti straps held the gown in place on Genesis’ frame, and her hip-length braids cascaded around her shoulders. The teen wore natural, glowy makeup and looked thrilled to be on the runway with her mom and dad.
The older she gets, the more Genesis is foraying into her mom’s world. The 13-year-old hopes to be an actor like her parents, and she was even cast in her debut role in 2019. Along with Nicole Kidman’s daughters Sunday Rose and Faith, as well as Gal Gadot’s daughter Alma, Genesis voiced a character in The Angry Birds Movie 2.
Davis spoke to Ellen Degeneres about Genesis’ aspirations in December 2020, telling the talk show host, “She does want to be an actress. She says, ‘Mommy, I know how to live the words. I know how to breathe the words. I know how to remember the words.’” The Woman King star joked, “And I said, ‘Well, you gotta remember how to go to school and at 18, you need to remember how to get out of the house and pay your own bills.’” Next time your kids complain about school and work, tell them even Viola Davis’ daughter is held to the same standards!
