Tori Spelling’s Kids Were Fat-Shamed in School Photo — and She Responded

It’s back-to-school season. And that means social media is flooded with photos of kids standing on their front steps with shiny new knapsacks. Tori Spelling’s picture marked a milestone for her family: four children were headed off to the same school. (Spelling, 45, and Dean McDermott’s fifth child, 18-month-old Beau, will be home with his parents a bit longer!)

“You know what that means? For one year and one year only ONLY 1 drop off = Happy Mom,” the actress captioned an Instagram snap on Tuesday, September 4. In the post, Liam, 11, Stella, Hattie 6, and Finn, 6, smile for the camera.

Not all of the comments were kind. “I would think they would look nicer for their first day of school. That’s a shame,” wrote one troll. “A tad overweight? Are they on a good food regimen? Health is important,” wrote another person. A third snipped, “3 fat children.”

School officially began today for my 4 older kiddos… This marks the first year that they’ll all be in the same school at the same time. You know what that means? For one year and one year only ONLY 1 drop off= Happy Mom ??‍♀️And, Finn started Kindergarten at his new school and felt so proud to be at his big boy school with his older brother and sisters. #ThisIsFourInElementarySchool #SixthGrade #FifthGrade #FirstGrade #Kindergarten #Liam #Stella ##Hattie #Finn

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum was disgusted by the cruelty. “I am a proud mama bear and I enjoy sharing our family journey with my family, friends, fans and online supportive and loyal community,” the star wrote in the comments section. “For all the individuals on here that felt the need to #momshame and #kidshame me and my children I say ‘Shame on you!’ I was raised to believe that if you can’t say anything nice about someone then don’t say anything at all.”

The Spelling It Like It Is author signed off with an important message: “Lift others up and you in turn lift yourself up #endcyberbullying.”
