Major moment! Duchess Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, was photographed with her and Prince Harry’s royal baby for the very first time.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” the royal pair captioned a black-and-white Instagram upload on Wednesday, May 8. “This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and the duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
In the sweet family photo, Meghan gazed down at her son while Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Harry and Ragland looked on.
The little one arrived on Monday, May 6, making his debut inside Windsor Castle two days later. The newborn’s mom gushed over him at the time, saying Archie was “really calm” and had the “sweetest temperament.”
After months of baby bump rumors, an October 2018 Kensington Palace statement confirmed that the Duke, 34, and Duchess of Sussex, 37, had a little one on the way.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the statement read. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
It went on to say, “The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple.”
In November 2018, a royal insider told Us Weekly exclusively that the Suits alum wanted her mom, who resides in Los Angeles, to move closer to the royal family after her baby’s arrival.
“Meghan of course wants her mom to move to the U.K.,” the source said at the time. “Doria hasn’t made any commitments about doing so. She has told friends that she would keep her house in Los Angeles but is indeed planning on spending a majority of her time with Meghan.”
The former actress and her husband were renovating and preparing their new home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor estate before the royal baby’s birth.
“They want their children to grow up in as normal an environment as possible,” another insider told Us. “It was actually Princess Eugenie who convinced them to make the decision, as she had such a wonderful, peaceful childhood on the grounds of Windsor.”
