Seeing double! Reese Witherspoon had the perfect date accompany her to the Big Little Lies season 2 premiere on Wednesday, May 29 — her doppelgänger daughter Ava Phillippe.
The Legally Blonde actress, 43, posed with the 19-year-old on the blue carpet at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City with Witherspoon sporting a strapless silk gown and dark closed-toe pumps. The college student, meanwhile, looked stunning in a little black dress and matching stilettos.
Though their ensembles were eye-catching, it was their similar facial features that really turned heads. The mother-daughter duo looked like twins with their matching smiles and blonde hair. Witherspoon welcomed Ava in 1999 with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, whom she was married to from 1999 to 2007. The former couple also share 15-year-old son Deacon.
Witherspoon recently opened up about sending Ava off to college and revealed what an emotional mess it caused her to be.
“My daughter’s finishing her first year of college. It’s weird when your children go away to college. It’s hard,” the Friends alum told Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month. “I never imagined how it felt for my mom. I might have gone into her empty room, laid down on her bed and cried when she went to college.”
And it’s safe to say Ava’s departure was hard for Witherspoon for many reasons — including their close bond. “They’re best friends,” an insider told Us Weekly of the two in June 2018. “They just love being together.”
Added the source: “Reese and Ava talk several times a day and they go to each other for everything. [Ava] has learned so much by being with her mom and traveling the world with her.”
Following her divorce from the Cruel Intentions actor, 44, Witherspoon moved on with Jim Toth, whom she wed in 2011. The spouses share 6-year-old son Tennessee.
