Nikki Bella Changes Her Pregnancy Timeline — and John Cena Isn’t the Reason

Nikki Bella won’t be shopping for maternity clothes any time soon. Though Bella’s desire to have children played a large role in her split from fiancé,  John Cena, the 34-year-old recently had a change of heart about her pregnancy timeline. But it has nothing to do with the breakup.

The WWE star admitted that spending time with her identical twin sister Brie Bella’s 15-month-old daughter, Birdie, has caused her to rethink having a baby. At least for a while. “She has been the best form of birth control for me,” the Total Bellas star told Page Six on Saturday, August 18. “Here I was dying to be a mom. Now I want to push it back. Can my clock tick until my 40s?”

In December 2017, Nikki told Us Weekly that Birdie was giving her “such a baby fever,” and revealed that she and the Daddy’s Home 2 actor were in counseling. “John doesn’t want to have kids, so it’s taken a lot of therapy to be OK with knowing I won’t be a mom,” she told Us at the time. “I’m not going to lie, there times when I still pray that one day he’ll change his mind. But as now, no family.”

The couple exclusively revealed to Us in April that they were ending their engagement after six years together. Their decision to part ways played out in the current season of her E! reality series. “People said it was fake for ratings, [but] don’t you think a wedding would be best for ratings? I would never fake a break-up,” Nikki declared to Page Six. “And when people keep questioning it, it actually makes your heart ache even more.”

After trying to overcome their issues, they officially split again in July. “After much time and soul-searching alone, and together, we have decided to officially part ways,” Nikki told Us in a statement. “I had a beautiful and loving six-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what’s best for me.”
