The internet is convinced Meghan Markle has a bun in the oven. When the Duchess of Sussex arrived at the 100 Days to Peace Gala in London on Thursday, September 6, all eyes were on her blue bespoke Jason Wu dress — specifically the belly-hiding ruffles.
“I have a feeling Meghan Markle is pregnant,” wrote one royal baby watcher. Another person noted the 37-year-old’s“glowing” skin and shinier hair.
But a source close to Kensington Palace tells Us Weekly that there is no baby on board for Meghan and Prince Harry.
“Chalk this pregnancy speculation to an unflattering dress and wind,” the insider says. “Meghan and Harry have a busy rest of the year. They are excited to start a family but have always wanted to focus the first year of marriage on their official work and starting to bring awareness to causes close to them. That is their main focus before starting a family.”
The source added that when Meghan is indeed pregnant there will be an official announcement from the palace.
In June, a royal insider told Us that “having children is definitely a priority” for the newlyweds. “She and Harry want to start a family right away — and she’ll start trying as soon as she can.”
Both Harry, 33, and the Suits alum have been open about their desire to become parents. “I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young,” Harry told ABC News in May 2012. “I’m waiting to find the right person, someone who is willing to take on the job.” Meanwhile, Meghan admitted to Hello! Magazine in 2015 that she dreams of having a daughter.
One thing is certain, though: the couple is happier than ever. At Tuesday’s WellChild Awards, Harry was filmed sweetly rubbing his wife’s back as they chatted with families. Gushed a fan on Instagram: “#HarryandMeghan have taken their PDA to a new level.”
