Getting a head start! Maren Morris revealed that she’s already begun playing her music for her newborn son, Hayes.
Hozier, who collaborated with the 29-year-old Grammy winner on her song, “The Bones,” tagged Morris in a tweet that featured a video of a crying infant calming down to the country track. The mother who shared the video noted that the song “never fails to calm” her child.
“Oh my @MarenMorris ?,” the 30-year-old Irish star tweeted on Monday, March 23. However, the next day, Morris revealed that this particular song has not been successful in soothing her own baby.
“This is too much for words,” the “My Church” songstress replied on Tuesday, March 24. “I will say, the same thing doesn’t work for my baby. ???.”
Morris announced on Monday that she welcomed her first child with husband Ryan Hurd. In sharing the special news, she posted intimate images from the delivery room, including a shot of the couple preparing to embrace as Morris rested with the newborn in a hospital bed.
“Hayes Andrew Hurd. 3/23/20,” she shared on both Instagram and Twitter. “Love of our lives. ✨?.”

In the days leading up to the birth, Morris had attempted to help move her son’s arrival along by dancing to Harry Belafonte “Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora)” in a cute Instagram video. “Harry Belafonte issuing an eviction notice for this baby. ??,” she joked on March 20.
In October 2019, the “80s Mercedes” singer revealed that she and Hurd, 33, would soon be first-time parents. “The irony is just too rich that after a year of living in the ‘GIRL’ headspace, the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out,” she wrote via Instagram, sharing a photo of herself posing with Hurd as she cradled her baby bump. “See you in 2020, little one.”
Morris and Hurd met in 2013 while writing Tim McGraw’s song “Last Turn Home,” and they struck up a romantic relationship two years later. The country stars got engaged in July 2017 and tied the knot in Nashville in March 2018.
During Morris’ pregnancy, Hurd told Us Weekly exclusively how he helped support his wife. “I definitely have to walk downstairs to get the ice cream now and take it back when we’re done,” the “To a T” singer, 33, told Us in November 2019. “I found out you’re supposed to do, like, a push present? So I’m figuring that thing out. I don’t know, I really am so new at this.”
