Lena Dunham isn’t exactly shy about sharing nude photos of herself. And while she often posts the body-positive images to promote self-confidence and size acceptance for all women, she sometimes has other causes in mind.
On Wednesday, May 29, the Girls creator shared an Instagram photo of herself completely naked sitting in a field in Wales. Her tattooed back, side and legs are visible as she looks over her shoulder to the camera. “Any negativity that comes your way is just an excuse to love yourself even more, right?” the outspoken star wrote in the caption. “Comment below with a reason you love yourself. I’ll go first: I’m a sober accountable adult who still loves to get naked. Okay, GO!”

Any negativity that comes your way is just an excuse to love yourself even more, right? Comment below with a reason you love yourself. I’ll go first: I’m a sober accountable adult who still loves to get naked. Okay, GO! For every comment in the next week, I’ll be donating a dollar to @FriendlyHouseLA, a residential program for women recovering from substance and alcohol addiction. So guys, be liberal with your self-praise…?

The actress then explained she would make a donation to a charity for each note added to the chain. “For every comment in the next week, I’ll be donating a dollar to @FriendlyHouseLA, a residential program for women recovering from substance and alcohol addiction. Dunham, 33, revealed in October 2018 that she had been sober for six months after misusing anti-anxiety prescription drugs. “My particular passion was Klonopin,” she told Dax Shepard on his podcast, Armchair Expert. “I do see the way that I medicated myself negatively impacted people around me and decimated my decision-making and hurt my creativity, and so I just feel, like, literally on-my-knees grateful every single day.”
The Not That Kind of Girl author has also been open about health crises she’s faced over the years, telling fans that she had undergone a total hysterectomy in 2017 to help relieve her endometriosis pain and had her left ovary removed in October 2018. Following her medical ordeals, she revealed in April 2019 the thing she was “most scared of being called” via a tattoo on her neck.
