Jon Gosselin Shares His Feelings on Kate Missing Collin’s Custody Hearing

This holiday season has been extra merry for Jon Gosselin. On December 4, the Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum won sole physical and legal custody of his 14-year-old son Collin after appearing before a judge in Pennsylvania. Jon’s ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, and her attorney did not show up.

“That’s her,” Jon told Us Weekly exclusively at WE tv’s Real Love: Relationship Reality TV’s Past, Present & Future event in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, December 11. “I would never… I would always go to court, no matter what.”

The DJ, 41, and Kate, 43, are parents of sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel and Aaden. They also share 18-year-old twins Cara and Mady. Hannah has lived with Jon since February, while the other children are with their mother.

At the moment, Collin still resides at a facility for children with special needs, though he will be packing up his room soon. (In a letter published in her book I Just Want You to Know, Kate explained that Collin was “sweet, kind and helpful, but had behavioral issues.)

Jon is counting down the days until he can pick up Collin and bring him home. “I’m excited to have a male around,” he gushed to Us on Tuesday. The former TLC personality added that Hannah’s eighth-grade are a fixture in his living room. “I’m constantly surrounded by 14-year-old girls!” he joked.

Collin is just as excited that he will be eating breakfast every morning with his dad and Hannah. “He wanted to live with me,” Jon told Us. As for Hannah, “She wants her brother to come home!”

Fans of Jon & Kate Plus 8 star watched as the former couple’s marriage unraveled in front of the cameras. The two divorced in 2009 after 10 years of marriage, and Kate was granted full legal custody of their children but the exes shared physical custody.

In November 2016, Kate defended her decision to send Collin away. “It was not even really a choice, it was on the advice of his doctors and it had to happen,” she explained on ABC’s Nightline. “He’s plodding along and we are too. This is the best thing I can do for him right now and that comforts me.”
