Can you work out like Jessica Alba?
The fittest of them all challenged her followers to try what she called her “30 min treadmill program” on her Instagram stories Wednesday, October 24. “Tag me and I’ll repost you in my stories,” she wrote.
Known for her incredibly toned frame and washboard abs, the actress welcomed her third child, son Hayes, on December 31, 2017, with her husband, Cash Warren. Now, less than a year later, she’s back to her pre-pregnancy body and encouraging others to hit the gym with her.
The 37-year-old Honest Company founder directed fans to her stories with a caption on a sweaty Instagram photo promising “30 min cardio -when you you only have 30 min to get it in?? -check out my stories to get my 30 min interval treadmill cardio.” She also added that she has “bad knees so the incline and treadmill is the only way I can ??♀#mombod #momofthree #workout #wellnesswednesday.”
Instructions for the 30-minute workout are simple. As she outlined in a slide, the fitness sessions consist of putting the treadmill at a 2 incline, then running for 1 minute at 3 speed, followed by 2 minutes at 7 speed. You repeat those intervals until the 24 minute-mark, at which point you move the treadmill to a 1 incline. In that position, you run for 30 seconds at 3 speed, then 1 minute at 7.5 speed. When you’ve completed that sprint, you switch to cool-down mode at a 2 incline, jogging at 3 speed.
When the organic food devotee has time away from her three kids, she gets in a variety of exercise. One of her favorites is Cycle House, which offers 45- to 75-minute intense spin sessions that promise to burn anywhere from 400 to 1,000 calories. As Cycle House’s Chief Ride Officer, Nichelle Hines, exclusively told Us in September, the bike workouts are designed to target the full body, not just the legs: “We generate the workout from that entire core base, so if your stomach doesn’t feel like you’re in a Pilates class, you are doing something wrong.”
Alba enjoys sharing her accomplishments with fans after particularly tough sweat sessions. Says Hines: “Jessica will come and want to take a photo and want to Instagram that myself, or my brother, or whoever her favorite is [that day], kicked her butt.”
