Looking ahead. Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin have been open and honest about the former professional football player’s sex addiction — and one day, they’ll tell their children, Jolie, 3, and Jace, 4 months.
“I definitely think that’s going to be hard, because unfortunately, when they’re old enough, they’re going to Google,” the “Whine Down” podcast host, 35, told Us Weekly exclusively on Tuesday, April 2, at the show’s first live recording sponsored by Thrive Market. “I personally would like for them to hear it from us first before they Google.”
The One Tree Hill alum added: “They’ll never know specifics. That’s something that we’re not going to go, ‘Oh, you’re dad cheated.’ That’s not healthy for anyone to know. So it’s just, ‘Yes, this is your father’s addiction, but look at where we’re at now.’”
Kramer, who hopes she and her husband, 32, will still be “happy and healthy” at that point, stressed to Us the importance of “being in communication” with their kids and showing “the positive as opposed to the negative.”
While they aren’t in any rush, “when the time is right,” the singer and Caussin will address his addiction.
Us Weekly broke the news in September 2016 that the athlete had cheated on Kramer, whom he married in 2015, with multiple women. The Virginia native entered treatment for 60 days, and the couple renewed their vows in December 2017.
On a “Whine Down” podcast episode last month, the pair revealed that Caussin relapsed a year ago. “It wasn’t physical out of the marriage, but it was something where … we’re just basically happy that someone didn’t show up,” Kramer explained. “I showed up at the hotel instead, if you really want to know.”
