Children can cramp your style, say, when you’re on your way out to a grown-up function and sticky fingers leave a messy goodbye on your outfit.

But, boy, do shorties come in handy when you’d rather skip said function and stay in.

Jamie Lee Curtis shared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” her children, Annie Guest, 32, and Thomas Guest, 23, were once great excuses.

“It’s the reason to have children, because you can immediately blame it on them,” said Curtis, 61. “You know, ‘They have diarrhea,’ and then right away, they don’t want you to come. They really don’t want you to come.”

Oh, for sure. Corden told the “Knives Out” star he honestly felt the same.

“It’s worth having kids just for the lies,” he joked. Corden has three children: Max, 8, Carey, 5, and Charlotte, 23 months. “That’s absolutely the reason to do it.”

Curtis added: “It’s the reason I did it.”

Corden then imagined a hilarious conversation playing out with an event host.

“We’d love to be there, but Max has got SARS,” he joked. “We’ll still come. Do you still want us to come? No, he’s fine. He’s got a mask. Oh, I guess we’ll sit this one out then.”

He said the sick excuse can also pull double duty.

“Then you turn to Max and say, ‘They canceled it buddy. One of the kids there has SARS. ‘”
