With two kids under the age of 5, DeAnna Pappas and Stephen Stagliano just want to sleep when they get into bed at night.
“I’m sure Stephen would wish that we had sex on a regular basis,” the season 4 Bachelorette told Us Weekly at Unicon in Beverly Hills on Saturday, September 29. “But we try.”
The spouses, who share daughter Addison, 4, and son Austin, 2, have been open about their weekly sessions in couples therapy. “We pay thousands of dollars for counseling, so we’re doing great!” Pappas, 36, joked to Us. “Not that we were ever not.”
Pappas thinks all couples can benefit from professional guidance. “We think you’re crazy if you don’t go to therapy,” she explained. ‘We are all a product of our environment and how we were raised and none of us are perfect.”
The L.A.-based mom noted that she and the 34-year-old events coordinator are very different. “I’m way too outspoken for Stephen and I don’t give grace enough and that’s something I have been working on,” she told Us. “We try to go on a date night once a week, just the two of us, without the children. Whether we speak to each other or not, we go out with our kids.”
The pair also attempt to get away once a month. “Even if it’s just 24 hours and we can spend the night together,” she explained. “Our anniversary is coming up this month, we’ll be married seven years and so we’re gonna for away for 48 hours.” (Pappas wants to stay in bed all day with her love and watch Netflix!)
Raising little ones is exhausting and Pappas needs to recharge her battery. “My kids, as good as they are,” she said, “can be pretty awful sometimes too!”
Pappas and Stagliano were introduced by his twin brother, Michael Stagliano, from Jillian Harris’ season of the Bachelorette.
