Just like Us! Eva Mendes opened up in a new interview about her life as a working mother of two children with her husband, Ryan Gosling.
“I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old now,” the actress, 44, said of daughters Esmeralda and Amada, respectively, on Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 19. “Sometimes it’s just a challenge to get dressed.”
With that in mind, Mendes recently decided to include more comfortable and casual outfits in her clothing line for New York & Company. She said some pieces from the Eva Mendes Collection are even inspired by Gosling, 37, and other “beautiful, diverse” family members.
“My sister Becky is so voluptuous and gorgeous,” she said. “So it was important for me … to make something that she could feel good in.”
Building a fashion empire can prove difficult at times, though. “I just struggle like every other working mother,” the Hitch star admitted. “It’s so hard, and I haven’t figured out the balance at all.”
Mendes said Amada “knows I’m coming back” whenever she leaves for work, but Esmeralda has “mamitis,” a term that the actress quickly explained: “Cubans say … it’s ‘momitis,’ like, when she wants to just be with Mama.”
The businesswoman started dating the Notebook actor, 37, in 2011 after they starred in The Place Beyond the Pines. Multiple sources told Us Weekly exclusively in September 2016 that the couple quietly tied the knot in front of a small group of family and friends earlier that year.
Gosling briefly paid tribute to his wife and kids while accepting a Golden Globe Award for his role La La Land in 2017: “Sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, I love you.”
