Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus recently welcomed their first child, and while the pair has been relatively mum on the matter, it seems they have good reason: Kruger wants to protect her baby’s privacy. But the paparazzi is making Kruger’s job difficult, at best. Earlier this week, a photo of the little girl was leaked and Kruger was not happy.
The In the Fade actor took to Instagram to make an emotional plea.
“Dear fans, dear non fans, dear paparazzi and anyone with a conscience,” Kruger wrote. “We were just tagged in these paparazzi pictures of me and our daughter. These pictures were taken without our consent and expose a vulnerable and innocent baby.”
“While we understand that some people would like to see a picture of our daughter, we as parents, want nothing more than allow her to grow up in privacy and safety,” Kruger continued. “Me and @bigbaldhead would kindly ask you not to repost these pictures and help us achieve that goal… [and if you have already] posted them, please take them down. Please put yourself in our shoes. We are just like any parent wanting the very best for our child.”
“Thank you,” Kruger wrote, “for your support.” She then tagged Reedus.
Kruger and Reedus have quite consistently tried to maintain a low profile. The couple have been linked since 2015 but didn’t officially announce their relationship until March 2017. They announced Kruger’s pregnancy only after becoming the subject of multiple rumors and speculative reports — and, aside from the baby’s sex, no other details about their little one have been released. This includes the baby’s name and birth date.
As for Kruger’s position, we totally get it. (I do not share images of my own daughter online for the same reason.) So back off, people! Let Kruger and Reedus raise their baby girl in peace. All kids — yes, even celebri-babies — deserve privacy, and “real” childhoods.
