Words of wisdom. Connie Britton raises her 8-year-old son, Eyob, on her own, and she’s got advice for other single moms out there.
“Be so kind to yourself,” the Nashville alum, 52, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Jett premiere on Tuesday, June 11. “Being a single mom is a very courageous thing to do, and we need to be kind to our hearts and create as much of a support system as we can.”
The actress added: “Just know that nobody knows what they’re doing and we kind of have to figure out every single challenge on our own. Sometimes you’re going to hit a home run, and sometimes it’s going to feel like a fail, and that’s life.”
In 2017, the American Horror Story star opened up to Us exclusively about teaching her little one important life lessons.
“Respect is so important to me, and for him to understand the concept of respecting himself and respecting all other humans is important,” the Massachusetts native told Us at the time. “I’m constantly asking the question, ‘How do you teach that?’ That’s a learning process for me because it is an interesting idea to know how you teach something that is so important, but kind of intangible in a way.”
When it comes to her love life, Britton told Us earlier that same year that dating as a single mom was a struggle.
“You don’t know how to budget your time anymore, you don’t know how to balance your life anymore,” she admitted to Us at the time. “For the first year that I was a mother, I didn’t look in the mirror once, except if I was at work and I kind of had to.”
