Channing Tatum’s 5-year-old daughter Everly gives his films two thumbs down.
“Not only does she tell me that she doesn’t like my movies, she doesn’t even call them real movies,” Tatum told Us Weekly and other reporters at the Smallfoot premiere in Westwood, California, on Saturday, September 22. “One of my movies will be on and I’m like, ‘Look! Daddy’s on the screen!’ And she’ll be like, ‘Ugh, Dad. Can we watch a real movie or something?’”
Tatum did, however, earn some cool points with his new animated musical in which he voices a lovable Yeti. “She’s seen it twice,” the Magic Mike XXL actor revealed. “I was really wondering if she was gonna like it or not, ‘cause she only likes movies with female heroes or fairies, princesses and things like that.” So it should come as no surprise that her favorite character is a female character played by Zendaya.
“I was hoping that Wendy’s character would come through for me and keep her in the theater and it did!” Channing raved. “She love’s Zendaya’s character.”
The little girl is also a fan of Common’s rap in the flick. “Apparently, my daughter loves rap,” he explained. “She loves to rhyme and everything. It’s crazy.”
The 38-year-old shares Everly with estranged wife Jenna Dewan. The former couple announced in April they were separating after eight years of marriage. Both remain committed to peacefully coparenting their only child.
Smallfoot opens in theaters on Friday, September 28.
