Not cool! Candy Spelling’s grandkids were recently bullied by online trolls — and the Broadway producer is not happy about it.
“That’s bullying,” the Stories From Candyland author, 73, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 9. “We know that, and it’s a terrible thing. Shame on people who dare to bully children. [Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s kids] go and they play and they’re messy from that. It’s just wrong.”
In January, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 46, posted a photo of her family of seven at the premiere of A Dog’s Way Home, and her followers came after her brood for looking like they “feed and clothe themselves.”
“It’s not easy,” the reality star told Us exclusively the following month when asked about dealing with online negativity. “When they say things about your kids, you’re just like… ‘What?’ Everyone is so anti-bullying these days, but it feels like lately with celebrities, that doesn’t apply. You can say whatever you want about celebrities and their kids, their family, but you can’t say it anywhere else in any other profession.”
She added: “I hate these internet cowboys who have these made-up titles that they hide behind and … have private accounts. You want something, you have something to say, say it to my face, and tell me who you are. … Stop following me if you don’t like me.”
Her husband, 52, clapped back against the trolls on Instagram at the time, writing, “I am absolutely horrified and disgusted by the comments being left about my children. Body shaming and bullying my children??!! What is wrong with you people??!! … Their [sic] kids. They’re messy and dirty. That’s what they do.”
