Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey won’t have to pull their kids out of bed on the first day of school thanks to a genius hack. At least 10 days before the big day, the couple slowly begin changing up their children’s schedule.
“We begin putting them to bed earlier and waking them up earlier,” Alves, 36, told Us Weekly at Carters and OshKosh B’gosh fashion event in New York City on Tuesday, August 7. That way, explained the Women of Today lifestyle blogger, “they’re already used to the routine.”
The McConaughey children — Levi, 10, and Livingston, 5, — will be well-dressed when classes start courtesy of their sister, Vida, 8. “She helps with the boys,” the proud mom told Us. “She puts things together that you would never put together, but it looks amazing.”
Not only does Vida have a great sense of fashion — she excels at science. And like her brothers, she wants to make the world a better place.
“We do a lot of charity work with them,” Alves revealed. Last year, the family took a trip to Cambodia where she and the Dallas Buyers Club actor, 48, taught their kids the importance of giving back. Before visiting school children in need, Levi, Vida and Livingston picked up supplies at a store and wrapped them. “[We explained to them] ‘This is how many kids there are, how many boys, how many girls, this is the age group, this is the budget,’” Alves told Us.
Alves often often positive feedback from teachers and other parents. “Basically everything we’re teaching, they’re practicing outside of the house,” she gushed to Us. “It’s working.”
