Postpartum weight loss (or gain) is a hot button issue. It seems everyone has something to say on the matter. And celebrities hear more criticism than most; they are, after all, in the public eye. But one actor in particular is tired of the noise: Brooklyn Decker addressed post-pregnancy body shaming on Twitter this week, and all we can say is Decker hit back. Hard.
Decker’s response came about after she received yet another rude and unsolicited comment about her body. Apparently, some troll on Twitter was “confused” because she “looked so good” in her 2011 movie Just Go With It and now “looks gangly.” Sweet, right? Well, Decker — not one to take things lying down — decided to fire back.
“For the umpteenth time — because people love to comment on my body (or lack thereof) my children sucked the life out of my body and left behind a bag of bones,” Decker wrote. “I don’t know what else to tell you. I miss my boobs too — I don’t even know what to call them now.”
Moms across the web got it. They were quick to respond with statements like “we feel you” and “it’s sadly accurate.” One woman even said that she too feels “like a bag of bones,” to which Decker responded by asking for advice. “Did it ever change?! Did you go back to ‘normal’? Or did that become your new normal?”
As for Decker, this isn’t the first time she has spoken about her appearance. In September, she told People that she tries not to focus too much on dieting or her body. “Food is there to be enjoyed,” Decker said. “And the less you deny yourself what you want, the more you tend to make consistent wholesome choices. If you want the cake, have the cake.” But with comments like these, we imagine maintaining this mentality is hard. More power to Decker for fighting the good fight and keeping up her spirits — her badassery — despite the trolls.
