Secret’s out! Greta Gerwig and her longtime love, Noah Baumbach, have welcomed their first child together, Us Weekly confirms. A source exclusively tells Us that the couple are parents of a baby boy.
The Lady Bird director, 35, and the While We’re Young writer/director, 49, fueled speculation that they secretly started a family after they were spotted walking with a baby stroller in Manhattan on Tuesday, March 19.
“Noah was pushing and Greta was right next to him. They were chatting and enjoying some fresh air,” an eyewitness told E! News Opens a New Window. on Wednesday, March 20, of the outing. “They were bundled up in the chilly weather and they had a gray and white striped blanket draped over the stroller. It seems like the baby was sleeping because they were busy talking and didn’t have to tend to the baby.”
The low-key couple began dating in late 2011 after she starred in his film Greenberg. Gerwig told The New Yorker Opens a New Window. in April 2013 that she was seeing someone else when filming began, but ultimately called it off after realizing that she was in love with Baumbach. The couple went on to collaborate on Frances Ha in 2012 and Mistress America in 2015.
“I hope Noah and I will write another movie together because it’s really, really fun,” Gerwig gushed to The Guardian Opens a New Window. in February 2018. “It’s important that, if you have any kind of platform and it matters to you, that you should figure out how to bring other people along.”
Although the duo keep their romance under wraps, they stepped out together at the Academy Awards in February 2018, where Gerwig’s film Lady Bird was nominated for Best Achievement in Directing and Best Original Screenplay.
Baumbach also shares a 9-year-old son, Rohmer, with ex-wife Jennifer Jason Leigh.
