The tricks and treats of Halloween — and the chance to dress up as a blood-thirsty shark or a magical unicorn — should be for everyone.
But some children have their own special super powers. Some kids have wheels to get around. Some are extra sensitive to fabrics or don’t like the idea of putting masks over their faces.
Now, thanks to Target and other retailers, these kids won’t feel excluded on Halloween.
“Every child deserves to bask in the fun of a special moment,” said Target’s senior vice president of owned brand management and product design Julie Guggemos in an email to USA TODAY.
That’s why Target added a line of inclusive costumes to its “Hyde & EEK! Boutique.”
The company wanted to bring the “same spirit of inclusivity” that it has already established through its successful line of Cat & Jack adaptive kids’ apparel and Pillowfort sensory-friendly pieces, Guggemos said.
What a boo-tiful idea!
Here is a look at the costumes available at Target, as well as some other cool inclusive and adaptive costumes we found.
