Bindi Irwin Shares Heartwarming Message to Her ‘Extraordinary Mama’ Terri Irwin That Will Make You Emotional

Buckle up — Bindi Irwin is taking us on an emotional ride! The Australia Zoo conservationist shared the most heartwarming letter to her “extraordinary mama” Terri Irwin in honor of her 59th birthday today, and it’ll leave you bawling.

“Mum, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are the most extraordinary mama and now watching you become the very best grandmother, my heart is overflowing,” Bindi, who is mom to 2-year-old Grace Irwin with husband Chandler Powell, wrote on Instagram. “With each new year I love, admire, and appreciate more and more the remarkable woman you are.”

The Crikey! It’s the Irwins star continued, “Thank you for your incredible strength and guidance, thoughtful patience and encouragement, and above all – your unconditional love. You do so much for our family, and for everyone around you. It’s amazing watching you effortlessly, selflessly care for others, wildlife, humans and our planet alike.”

“I love celebrating YOU today and every day,” Bindi continued. “Can’t wait to make this next year truly unforgettable, filled with family, and revelling in every joyful moment we share. I love you, every minute, for all of my days. ❤️”

    Terri, who was married to the late Steve Irwin, is universally loved. People took to the comments section to sing her praises. 

    “Your mom is a timeless example of being a loving, compassionate and overall incredible woman, happy birthday to her and here’s to many more ❤️” one person wrote. 

    Another said, “Through the very best of times and the very worst of times this amazing lady carried on. She is a rare gem, and to be greatly admired! Happy Birthday!”

    “Happy birthday Terri! What an inspiring woman you are. Genuine, kind human, the world is lucky to have you fighting for it. ❤️” someone else wrote. 

  • Robert Irwin Shared a Message for His Mom, Too

    Terri’s son Robert Irwin, 19, also wrote a sweet note to his mom. “Happy birthday mum! You’ll always be the biggest inspiration and guiding light for me and Bindi. You are incredible, love you! 💙” he said on Instagram.

    The wildlife photographer shared a throwback photo of his mom holding him when he was a toddler. The two were dressed warmly in beanie hats and jackets as they posed outside. Slide to the next photo to see a modern-day recreation, where Terri looks like she hasn’t aged a day (and is wearing the same hat!) as she poses next to Robert outside in the snow. So cute!

    Terri took to Twitter to respond to both of her children. 

    “Thank you for making my birthday so very special,” she wrote to Bindi. “I am proud to be your mama every single day. I love you @BindiIrwin.”

    To Robert she said, “I love these photos so much. And every birthday I love you more, @RobertIrwin.”

    The love this family has for each other is so pure. 

  • Terri Is a Proud Grandma

    Terri loves her kids, and she is also a proud grandma to Grace. In Oct. 2022, she shared her hopes for the toddler’s future, including that she be “a changemaker for women.”

    Terri told PEOPLE, “I would like her to have the opportunity to be a role model through her specific passions in life. Whatever her chosen field, I hope to be able to give her the tools and confidence to be a leader and an inspiration for other girls.”

    “Not only do I believe she can achieve her dreams, I want to encourage her to achieve goals that are even beyond what she dreams possible!” Terri added.
