Bouncing back after having a baby isn’t easy, and new mom Bekah Martinez wants people to stop saying moms “are lucky to get their pre-baby bods back.”
“Lucky is getting the opportunity to carry a child within you,” Martinez, 24, captioned an Instagram photo Tuesday, which shows her breastfeeding her newborn daughter Ruthie Ray.
“Lucky is having a healthy baby,” Martinez continued. “Lucky is watching your body change after bringing new life into the world, not squeezing into your old high-waisted jeans a week after giving birth.”
“My face is swollen, I’m wearing a diaper, and my belly hands over my sweats,” Martinez wrote.
“I am truly lucky.”
Martinez’s raw message comes just a few days after the former Bachelor contestant shared a mirror selfie of herself posing in postpartum mesh underwear.
“So amazing what we can do,” Martinez wrote over the snapshot posted to her Instagram Stories.
“I’ve never felt so much respect and love for my body, diaper and all,” Martinez added, writing the hashtag “#ThisIsPostPartum.”

Martinez welcomed her bundle of joy on Feb. 2 via water birth at the Natural Birth Center in Los Angeles.
Martinez announced her pregnancy in October, revealing that she learned that she was pregnant three months into her relationship with boyfriend Grayston Leonard.
Martinez broke the news to Leonard on Father’s Day. She told PureWow, “I was crying … and said, ‘You’re going to be a dad!’ We hugged, and it was the first time we really got to be overjoyed. We were finally able to celebrate and soak up all of that emotion.”
She raved about welcoming a baby, calling it “legitimately a dream come true” and explaining, “It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long.”
Since Ruthie Ray’s arrival, Martinez has shared a number of photos of the infant.
On Feb. 12, Martinez posted a sweet shot of the baby girl lying on her stomach in a little wooden basket atop a pile of fluffy cotton.
As she peacefully sleeps with one leg dangled over the side, the newborn is dressed in an adorable bear costume, complete with a hood and ears. “I simply couldn’t resist,” Martinez admitted in the caption.
