Anna Faris didn’t shed any tears on her 6-year-old son Jack’s first day of kindergarten.
“Here’s the thing: I feel really guilty that I wasn’t more anxious,” Faris admitted on the Tuesday, October 2, episode of The Talk. The 41-year-old explained that while all the other parents looked worried, ‘I felt like, ‘Can’t we just drop them off?’”
The Mom star and her estranged husband, Chris Pratt, walked Jack to school together. “We were trying to not, you know, transfer any hint of anxiety — not that I was having it, clearly,” she quipped. “I was like, ‘I gotta get to work, kid.’ Jack just ran in. He was like, ‘Bye, guys.’”
Though Jack was clearly just fine, the Overboard actress had “mom guilt” for not feeling more emotional about the milestone.
Faris and the Guardians of the Galaxy actor, 39, announced in August 2017 that they had separated after eight years of marriage. But they remain committed to peacefully coparenting Jack. According to Faris, it’s pretty easy.
“I think it’s just the general idea of making sure that he’s surrounded by a lot of love and happiness and we’re really good at that,” she told Us Weekly in January. “We have amazing friends and incredible family and we have just, like, the most amazing resources to make sure that he feels safe and protected and happy and so far he is.” The Unqualified author added: “He’s pretty hysterical.”
The former couple have both moved on. Pratt is dating Katherine Schwarzenegger while Faris has been with cinematographer Michael Barrett since 2017.
