To celebrate the end of his HSC trials, Ryder (Lukas Radovich) is keen to blow off steam. He starts to plan a party in the caravan park with some of his friends from school, but doesn’t realise the celebratory plans Roo (Georgie Parker) had in mind didn’t go beyond a slap up meal in Salt.
When Roo and Alf (Ray Meagher) find out about the party, they give him permission as long as he follows two rules – he needs to keep the noise down and not have booze there, as other people in his year are underage.
However, when he’s setting up, his friends peer pressure him into getting booze to make the party more interesting, and they figure as he works at Salt he can get a staff discount. Ryder reluctantly gives in and sneaks some crates of booze from the bar. Bella (Courtney Miller) is sat in Salt and Ryder tries to convince her to come to the party, saying Colby (Tim Franklin) can’t hang out with Mackenzie (Emily Weir) while she’s around.
Bella realises she can get away from Colby for a while, and tells him to have fun on his date with Mackenzie. She also says she’s fine with Irene’s (Lynne McGranger) upcoming trial and testifying, then heads off to Ryder’s party.
Later, after Alf and Roo have seen what looks to be a low-key party starting – as Ryder has hidden the booze – they head to Salt and tell Colby it’s good to see Bella out and about. A surprised Colby figures she must be doing well if she’s hanging out with friends.
Little does he know, Ryder’s party is getting out of hand, with drunken teenagers holding chugging contests and Bella grabbing beer to down it behind a tree. Ryder tries to stop her, but Bella yells at him to get lost and continues to drown her sorrows…
