House Rules judge, Wendy Moore, 47, shares her day on a plate.
Wendy Moore.
7.30am While making school lunches for my twin girls, I eat some berries. I pack myself the same lunch.
9.30am A decaf mocha.
10.30am I eat my "crunch and sip" collection – one small container of mixed berries and one small container of chopped vegies including carrots, sugar snap peas and cucumber.
1pm Lunch at my desk is a chicken sandwich. 3pm I snack on a small container of mixed nuts and berries.
7pm My husband cooks a slow-roast shoulder of lamb with rosemary, oregano, garlic, lemon and sumac topped with a homemade mint and parsley sauce and a tomato and chickpea salad. I serve it on flatbread with a bed of hummus, lemon sumac and zaatar.
9pm A cup of tea with a bit of dark chocolate.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for… Packing your food to take to work. I love the simplicity of your snacks. Your vegies, fruit and nuts are wholefoods and packed with nutrients. Top marks also to your husband for that amazing dinner!
If you keep eating like this you'll… Keep your risk of diet-related health problems low by avoiding junk food and eating minimally processed wholefoods. You're not eating much through the day and getting most of your energy at the dinner. Just make sure this doesn't lead to overeating in the evening if you come home ravenous.
Why don't you try… Adding a little more protein throughout your day to help control your hunger. Have some natural yoghurt with your berries, for example, or a piece of cheese with an apple. This would also boost your calcium intake, which on this day was low.
House Rules airs tonight at 7pm on Channel Seven.
