10am Early breakfasts make me gag, so late breakfast is Nissin Instant Ramen with Sesame Oil. (Don't judge me! It is Hong Kong's national noodle and the pride of my people.) Adding a big handful of snow pea shoots and homemade kimchi make it a meal. I also have a big pot of green tea.
11.30am A gigantic – possible mutant – mango with unsweetened Greek yoghurt. More green tea.
2pm At a cafe I have an all-day breakfast dish comprising a fillet of miso-marinated king salmon, a small eel croquette, leafy salad, soft-boiled egg and furikake. I also have a soda water.
7.30pm My sister Michelle is making dinner. Tonight it is mapo tofu served with heaps of steamed bok choy and jasmine rice. I have a glass of riesling, more green tea and an ice-cream – Montana Mountain Mint With Cookies.
Dr Joanna McMillan says…
Top marks for … Drinking several cups of green tea daily. It is antioxidant-rich and seems to help protect against several kinds of cancer, including prostate, and have beneficial effects on the brain.
If you keep eating like this you'll … Meet most of your nutrient requirements as you're eating plenty of protein and I love that you have vegies in each meal. Just watch that you consume enough fibre as your noodle and rice options are not wholegrain.
Why don't you try … Boosting your fibre by opting for wholegrain or soba noodles (100 per cent buckwheat) and wholegrain rice varieties, including black, red and brown.
