Alex Trebek fans are sending the Jeopardy! host well wishes after the 78-year old TV icon announced that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Ken Jennings, a Jeopardy! contestant who is famous for winning 74 games, reacted to the news in a Tweet. In the post, Jennings likened Trebek to another TV icon.
“I’ve said this before but Alex Trebek is in a way the last Cronkite: authoritative, reassuring TV voice you hear every night, almost to the point of ritual,” he wrote.
I’ve said this before but Alex Trebek is in a way the last Cronkite: authoritative, reassuring TV voice you hear every night, almost to the point of ritual.
He continued by saying, “Alex is very aware of how much he means to millions of people, and how we will be pulling for him…I hope that’s a comfort. And I hope some very good L.A. oncologists are getting ready to have their mispronunciations corrected.”
This thread has caused a wave of support for Trebek with others chiming in to support the TV host.
“Alex Trebek is a link to my grandmother and all the episodes of Jeopardy we’d watch together. She is gone, and we are so lucky to have him still — now, and for hopeful years ahead. All the best to him,” food columnist and cookbook author @taraobrady Tweeted in response to Jennings.
