Doctors remove steel cup from man’s bum after ‘pals put it up there as prank’

A boozy prank landed a bloke in hospital.

Doctors had to remove a steel cup from a man’s behind after his pals put it up there while drunk.

The 45-year-old, from Balipadar, India, was out drinking with his friends in Surat, Gujarat, when the unfortunate incident happened.

His “friends” inserted the object into his backside while he was in an “inebriated state”, forcing him to seek help from doctors at a local hospital.

An X-ray was done at MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur city and glass was found stuck in the intestine.

Doctors tried to retrieve the glass through the rectum but their attempts were unsuccessful.

To treat the patient, they performed grisly surgery that involved cutting through the intestine.

Thankfully, they were able to remove the substantially sized tumbler from his backside.

The unlucky man is recovering after the surgery and his condition is said to be stable.

In other news, NHS medics are trying to get to the bottom of a sharp rise in the number of intimate ops they are having to carry out.

Figures show they have more than doubled from 78 in 2016 to 184 in 2021.

The objects removed, officially known as “rectal foreign bodies”, included a toilet brush, a vacuum cleaner attachment, a saltshaker and an onion.

An NHS spokesman said: “If people have a problem they should come forward for care regardless of any precarious positions they may be in.

"When it comes to issues like this typical NHS pathways still apply.”
