Instead of going out for an Italian feast this week, why not whip up a gorgeous pasta dish at home?
Mary Berry’s 15 minute pasta recipe, available at BBC Food, is the perfect dish to try. It’s tasty, full of flavour and can be cooked up in a flash.
The beloved British baker said of the recipe: “This is my standby pasta supper as it is so delicious, so quick and everyone loves it. Great for everyday or for casual supper parties too.
“Its base is a crème fraîche pasta sauce and it’s topped with crispy Parma ham, which gives tons of flavour and great texture.”
Mary’s recipe contains just eight ingredients, many of which you may already have at at home, so won’t have you traipsing around the supermarket for hours on end.

Ingredients
350g/12oz penne pasta
Two 80g packs Parma ham, snipped into small pieces
250g/9oz small brown chestnut mushrooms, halved or quartered
200g/7oz full-fat crème fraîche
100g/3½oz Parmesan, grated
Two tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
To serve (optional)
Green salad
Crunchy bread
Method
1. Fill a pan with boiling salted water and add the pasta, cooking it according to the packet instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Heat a frying pan until hot. Add the parma ham and fry until it is crispy. Put half the ham onto a plate and set aside. Add the mushrooms to the pan and fry for two minutes. Next, add the crème fraîche and bring to the boil. Finally, add in the pasta, parmesan and parsley and toss over the heat. Use salt and pepper to season.
3. Plate up the pasta and enjoy! Serve with a green salad and crunchy bread if you’re feeling peckish.
Recipe tip
For those using reduced fat crème fraîche, stir it through at the end of cooking to avoid it splitting. For some added pizzazz, add a pack of asparagus tips to the pasta four minutes before the end of cooking time, then drain.
