Easy summer cocktail recipes to enjoy in the sun

Celebrate the sunshine with a cocktail! Express.co.uk exclusively spoke to the drinks experts at English wine brand, Chapel Down, about the rising cocktail recipes that are perfect for summer. 

Summer Spritz 

A remarkably refreshing summer spritz! Franklin & Sons Guava & Lime Soda has aromatic and tropical flavours that pair perfectly with the gin, creating an ideal cocktail for all summer occasions. 

Ingredients 

25ml of gin 
40ml of Chapel Down A Touch of Sparkle, prosecco or English sparkling wine 
130ml of soda, or enough to top up  
5ml of lime Juice  
Slice of orange, to garnish  

Method 

Fill a wine glass with ice, then add gin, sparkling wine and lime juice, then top up with soda. Gently stir and garnish with a slice of orange to serve.

Elderflower Spritz 

If you love floral flavours, then this is the cocktail for you. The light and clean flavours from the soda water balance the floral liqueur for the perfect summer tipple. 

Ingredients 

40ml of elderflower liqueur (we like St Germain’s Elderflower Liqueur) 
60ml of Chapel Down A Touch of Sparkle, prosecco or English sparkling wine 
5ml of lemon Juice  
60ml of soda water, or enough to top up 
Lemon peel, to garnish 

Method 

Fill a wine glass with ice, then add the elderflower liqueur, sparkling wine, and lemon juice, then top up with soda water. Gently stir and garnish with lemon peel to serve.

Mediterranean Spritz 

A summer spritz with a twist! The deep and aromatic flavours from the Rosemary & Black Olive Tonic, paired with Vermouth and Chapel Down’s A Touch of Sparkle create a sparkling cocktail for summer sipping. 

Ingredients 

50ml of sweet Vermouth (we like Cocchi Di Torino’s Vermouth) 
50ml of Chapel Down A Touch of Sparkle, prosecco or English sparkling wine 
100ml of Franklin & Sons Rosemary & Black Olive Tonic Water, or enough to top up 
Sprig of rosemary, to garnish 
Slice of orange, to garnish  

Method 

Fill a wine glass with ice, then add the vermouth and sparkling wine, then top up with Franklin & Sons Rosemary & Black Olive Tonic Water. Gently stir and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of orange to serve.
