Cadbury brings back popular retro chocolate bar after eight years

The confectionary giant has agreed to bring back the iconic Marble chocolate bar, which was taken off the shelves back in 2012. Sadly though the fan favourite won’t be available in the UK, as it’s reported it will only be on sale in Australia.

The previously discontinued bar was a delicious blend of milk and white chocolate with hazelnut praline, and those with a sweet tooth clearly missed it being in the chocolate giant’s range.

There was even a Facebook group, Bring Back Cadbury Marble, created when the treat first disappeared from stores – and as the campaign has picked up momentum, the group’s owner has shared the news that their plea has finally worked.

Cadbury posted an update to the fan page to confirm the good news.

The much-welcomed statement read: “We have been absolutely blown away by the amount of support and love that you have for one of our classic flavours.

“Please be assured that every plea, petition and comment has been heard – and we have been working hard to bring back what you want. Although you may have heard whispers already, as a thank you for your passion and commitment, we wanted you to be the first to hear the exciting news.”

The post had thousands of likes and comments as those who had petitioned discovered the good news.

The statement continued: “We can officially confirm we’re bringing Cadbury Dairy Milk Marble back and it’s because of each and every one of you.”

The group shared the post to its followers, writing: “WE DID IT! All those letters, spam attacks and nagging got us the win! You’re welcome Australia. VIVE LA MARBLE!”

The chocolate giant had originally posted the statement as a comment with the teaser ‘We have some news…’ on one of the group’s many posts about the retro bar.

Proving that people power had worked, the fans were celebrating their victory as the news was announced, with one commenting: “Well done to the page admin for all his work running this army! If possible we should all chip in and get you a box. Haha!!”

Another wrote: “Cant wait to get my hands on my all time favourite Cadbury block!”

The good news was announced in February, appropriately on Valentine’s Day, reassuring fans that the chocolate bar they loved was coming back for good.

The beloved Marble bar is said to be arriving back on the shelves this month as Cadbury’s raced to get it into production in reaction to the huge demand, with the petition gaining over 20,000 signatures.

Dairy Milk Marble has reportedly been the number one request across Cadbury’s Australian social media channels since it went off sale.

Cadbury Marketing Manager Katrina Watson said in a statement to Daily Mail Australia: “Marble fans asked, and we’ve listened! It’s the chocolate Cadbury fans have been demanding we bring back and we’re so excited to see it return into people’s homes and we wanted to ensure that they heard this great news first.”

It’s not the first confectionary comeback the brand has made in recent months either.

Cadbury recently took to its Australian Instagram account to reveal that Caramilk was returning – a caramel-flavoured white chocolate bar similar to Nestle’s Caramac, though it was never available in the UK.

Teasing customers with news of its return, Cadbury shared a daily countdown to mark its arrival. “We were blown away by the love shown for the block of delicious carmelised white chocolate, [sic]” they commented.

The Marble news may be disappointing for some, though, as there seems to be no plans for the iconic bar to return to the UK. Cadbury’s Dairy Milk topped polls as the nation’s favourite Cadbury chocolate bar in January this year, second only to Snickers (previously known as Marathon), from rival confectioner Mars.

The poll was carried out by the British Heart Foundation to find out what the country’s favourite chocolate treats were ahead of hoping consumers would give up their indulgences for March in their ‘Dechox’ challenge.

The study revealed that adults will consume a massive 18,144 chocolate bars, cakes and biscuits in their lifetime, with many of Cadbury’s classics making the cut as the nation’s go-to sugar fix.
