Woman blasts ‘sexist’ cards which suggest girls should make sandwiches for their boyfriends and be bought flowers as gifts

A WOMAN has slammed a pair of 'sexist' cards where the women's version suggests they should be bought flowers while men should get a sandwich.

Natasha Hodgson took to Twitter to vent her fury after coming across the £1.95 cards, coloured pink for the girls and blue for the boys.

The girl's version said "you're the kind of girl I'd buy flowers for", while the boy's version says "you're the kind of boy I'd make a sandwich for".

Natasha, a singer, actor and writer, shared a photo of the cards on Twitter and wrote: "Ahh yes the two sides of heterosexuality, commerce and toil."

Sold by sellers Lola & Gilbert on NotOnTheHighStreet, the cards are described as "fun" and "cute" ways to express your feelings for someone.

The blue card's description says: "Show how much you think of a certain boy with the brilliant greeting card!"

Natasha, from Warrington, has seen her post go viral with her tweet being liked nearly 20,000 times.

Numerous people have commented on the post, claiming the message is outdated.

Someone commented: "It is insidious. Worming its way under the skin of generation after generation. Burn it all."

Another person said: "Did someone from the 50s drop their cards through a portal to the modern day or something, wtf."

Somebody else wrote: "What if I'd rather have a sandwich?

A third said: "Why don't they just put the flower thing on the boys one too instead of being sexist flowers are cool bro and a valid way of showing affection."
