No food alone can improve a bad diet or help with your health.
But certain ones, added to a healthy regime, have greater benefits than others. We put some superfood products to the test – by eating them and testing others on our skin.

Powder
Organic Clean Greens includes wheatgrass, chlorella, barley grass, spirulina and moringa and camu camu berry – great for energy, healthy gums, eyes, and skin. Mix two teaspoons a day with water.
It tastes fresh, grassy . . . and green. But it’s not unpleasant and after a couple of weeks I felt less sluggish. (£24.99, 150g from superu.co.uk).
Hot drink
Pukka’s new range of lattes contains spices, herb and superfood blends.
The Cacao Maca Magic latte tastes amazing – a great chocolate flavour with herbs to naturally boost mood and balance hormones.
Just add milk – or plant-based alternative – and you’ve got a yummy, healthy hot chocolate. Comforting, and I did have a good night’s sleep. (£4.99 for 15 servings, pukkaherbs.com)
Shot
Bumblezest shots are great. You can down or dilute them.
The Propel and Protect drink contains a combination of antioxidant-rich and energising superfoods – matcha, moringa and ginseng – with lemon, mint, vanilla, maple, cinnamon and a drop of natural sweetener stevia.
Great after a night out, it helps detox. It has a fresh, minty-green tea flavour that wakes you up. (£3.40, bumblezest.co.uk).

Budget
Pureology, Hydrate Superfood Treatment (£26.50, 170ml, cultbeauty.co.uk): Contains superfoods avocado oil and coconut oil, to nourish hair. Avocado is rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.
Coconut oil is moisturising and promotes soft, shiny locks. The treatment smells great and is so easy to use.
Apply small amount to shampooed hair, leave for five minutes then rinse. Pureology’s signature AntiFade complex is included to help colour remain rich.
MID
Elemis, Superfood Facial Wash (£25.00, 150ml, elemis.com): Contains a superfoods such as avocado, wheatgrass, nettle and kale. Has that spa-like Elemis scent but with earthy green tones.
The gel- textured wash lathers well so, although it is expensive for a face wash, only a small amount is needed. Skin was left feeling soft and supple. Treatment was neither drying nor too hydrating.
Luxury
Sol de Janeiro Acai Body Power Cream (£44, 240ml, feelunique.com): Acai berries have antioxidant properties to protect cells, fight toxins and keep skin looking youthful.
Also contains coconut oil for richness. It is the best body cream I have ever tried. I used it on parched skin after a summer holiday and it soaked in without being sticky or oily.
My skin felt moisturised all day. The only drawback is the price.
