While she has been in the public eye for a while thanks to her acting role in Suits, she actually learned how to work the camera from her dad Thomas Markle.
The former lighting director is said to have taught his daughter some sneaky tricks for nailing every shot when she was youngster.
While they are currently not speaking, they were much closer when she was growing up.
Meghan told Elle in 2016: “He taught me to write thank you notes, to always arrive early, to drink Arnold Palmers [a non-alcoholic cocktail of lemonade and iced tea], to find my light when I’m on camera…and beyond."
She also revealed that her dad was extremely “invested” in her career and passionate about her having the best in life.
Meghan explained: “The blood, sweat and tears this man (who came from so little in a small town in Pennsylvania, where Christmas stockings were filled with oranges, and dinners were potatoes and spam) invested in my future so that I could grow up and have so much.
"He put gas in my car when I went from audition to audition trying to make it as an actress.
“He is the person who believed in this grand dream of mine well before I could even see it as a possibility.”
Despite their close bond in previous years, Meghan is said to be refusing to be drawn into a war of words with her father following the criticism.
Thomas Markle has recently hit out with a series of interviews in recent weeks in which he labelled the Royal Family 'cult-like' and similar to Scientologists.
Markle is not believed to have spoken with her dad, 74, since shortly after the wedding when she and Prince Harry scolded him for secretly staging photoshoots.
According to sources, The Duchess of Sussex cannot risk talking to her 74-year-old dad, for fears he will leak their conversation.
Thomas Markle does have a track record of speaking to the press about his and Meghan's relationship.
Since he staged several paparazzi photos earlier this year, and was unable to attend his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry in May, the former lighting director has taken part in a string of damaging interviews.
Claiming his daughter has "cut him off", Thomas has made a slew of hurtful comments, including likening the royal family to Scientologists because of their "cult-like" behaviour and claiming Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, would have "loathed"the way he was being treated.
All things considered, it's not surprising that Meghan is said to be reluctant about holding peace talks with her father.
The Duchess of Sussex expected to be soon visiting New York and Los Angeles to catch up with family and friends.
She’s also said to have visited Lake Como last weekend with Prince Harry, staying at the luxury villa belonging to George Clooney.
