The comfy-shoe movement — ushered in by the return of the Birkenstock, the Teva, the dad sneaker, and the kitten heel — shows no sign of abating. From what I saw during the latest crop of New York Fashion Week shows, footwear is destined to somehow become even more comfortable in 2019.
At Longchamp, flat gladiator sandals made their return from the early 2000s (Kendall Jenner has already worn them twice this week), chunky wedges popped up in the new Michael Kors collection, and comfortable sneakers accompanied flirty Zimmermann, Tory Burch, and Escada dresses.
Stiletto pumps, which also made their way into the latest runway shows, will forever be a classic option. But I’m personally excited by all the comfortable options designers are embracing. Below, see our favorite shoes from the Spring 2019 shows.
