Pregnant mum livid after husband invites estranged mum-in-law into the delivery room to 'watch her vagina'

The frustrated woman – known only as Danielle – said they barely speak to her partner’s mum, and she explained that she’d feel uncomfortable having her “watch her vagina”.

Taking to Netmums, Danielle said: “I’m so angry and upset with my hubby. We rarely speak to his family, most of them still haven’t even acknowledged I’m pregnant and I’m now 38 weeks. His mum has asked once how I’m doing.

“Anyway hubby has only gone and told her she’s welcome at the hospital whilst I’m giving birth. I’m absolutely livid.

“I have no issue with my mum seeing my vagina, seeing me scream in pain and push a human out, to put it bluntly. But to invite his mum is a whole different situation.”

The distraught mum-to-be said her husband is being less than supportive of her concerns, and even “laughed” when she opened up to him.

She said: “I’ve just said to him it’s like me stripping him naked and making him lie on a bed for a few hours with everyone staring at him. How would he like it and he just laughed.”

At her wits end, Danielle has said she is nervous her partner’s mum will show up at the hospital and has even threatened to bar her husband too.

She concluded: “He’s really not getting it, it’s our first baby and even though he doesn’t see or speak to his mum often he said I don’t want to upset her but I just said well I’m upset now.”

Mums were quick to reply to her predicament and give their own views.

I have no issue with my mum seeing my vagina, seeing me scream in pain and push a human out, to put it bluntly. But to invite his mum is a whole different situation.

One mum said in support: “I loved my mother in law but I’d still be absolutely furious if my husband invited someone into the delivery room, that’s not on!”

Another added: “I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. Tell your partner in no uncertain terms that he is to contact his mother and tell her that his invitation was inappropriate and she is not to come to the hospital and that it is his fault for the mix up.”

And another commented: “Just let her down gently, say you don't feel close enough too her too have her in the room while you're giving birth.”

However, others said she should suck it up and go along with it.

One forum poster advised: “I think you need to pick your battles. Your dh shouldn't have invited her, but he has now, and don't put him between you and his mum.”

So what do you think?
