Slam Jam and Nike Sportswear are set to release their second Dunk High collaboration of October 2020: the “Clear Black.” Following up the “Light Gray” pair that dropped at the top of the month, the “Clear Black” plays with both tone and texture — and although it may appear simple at first glance, it’s rife with thoughtful details.
Uppers blend a crisp white leather base with supple black suede overlays, and waste no time delving into dashing details. Midfoot Swooshes are encased in a smoky black plastic sheath that reaches all the way to the heel before crescendoing in an ever-so-slightly elongated tab with an embossed Slam Jam graphic. Two-tone laces are black on one side and white on the other, providing an optical illusion of sorts that makes the shoe appear double-laced.
Nike branding on each tongue tag is flipped upside down, making for an inverted nod to 2019’s popular “Class of ‘77” Blazer collaboration, and insoles offer a graphic print. A single line of perforations makes its way across each quarter panel, and also replaces the standard perforated assemblage on the toebox. Down below, icy blue midsoles and black outsoles round off the look.
The Slam Jam x Nike Dunk High “Clear Black” is set to release on Nike SNKRS come October 30 and will retail for $120 USD.
