Model claims this superfood boosted her breasts by TWO cup sizes – but does it really work?

Brigette Cooper told her 30,000 Instagram followers that her breasts went from a C up to an E cup after taking maca powder.

Maca powder is ground from the maca plant, found in Peru, and it said to increase energy, libido and balance hormones.

Brigette, from Australia, had been taking maca powder but stopped two months ago after experiencing "bad side effects".

She claims as well as making her boobs grow it "f***ed with my menstrual cycle" causing her to get her period every couple of weeks.

Her hormones began to balance themselves out again once she stopped taking maca, she claimed, but she is urging other women thinking about using it to be careful.

Brigette isn't entirely sure if the maca powder is what caused her boobs to grow, but does think it was a side effect.

"In winter I gain weight and a lot of it usually goes to my boobs… they've been this big in the past as well,' she explained.

"All month long they go from a full C to an E. I would only suggest taking maca if you have a hormone imbalance and you do your research.

"If you look at reviews from other people it's very rare that they will grow. I'm pretty sure mine are big due to the fact I've gained weight and that my cycle is every two weeks."

Her changing chest size has gained a lot of attention from her fans, with many joking they are of to buy maca powder straight away.

But Brigette urged them to think twice, adding: "I wish you guys could walk a mile in my boobs… they are not fun."

So, can a food supplement really make your boobs grow?

Maca is often used to help people gain weight and, as many women will know, when you gain weight your boobs can grow.

It's claimed that maca powder helps balance hormones and encourages the body to produce oestrogen, the female sex hormone responsible for breast growth and fat storage in certain areas of the body like the hips and bum.

But Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical director of Patient.info, said it was "extremely unlikely" that maca powder will cause your boobs to grow.

"It does have quite a lot of minerals; it has B vitamins and some magnesium, calcium and zinc," she told The Sun Online.

"But there are few, if any, studies which show that it has any specific benefit.

"There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that it has an impact on your hormones.

"It's usually a combination between your oestrogen and progesterone levels in your body which determine whether or not your boobs grow or shrink.

"That's why women find when they are pregnant, or just before their period, that their breasts feel swollen and tender.

"As far as I am concerned I absolutely, categorically, would not recommend it to women who want their boobs to grow."
