After launching its range of technical and performance pieces earlier this month, London’s maharishi has now turned the spotlight onto its cloth embroidery items. Featuring overshirts, sweats, hoodies, trousers, tees and even a tapestry, the capsule features a reworking of traditional Vietnamese embroidery.
The artworks used throughout the collection are heavily inspired by the Story Cloth artworks produced by the Montagnard mountain tribes of the Vietnamese Highlands. These tapestries typically depict the violence and bloodshed experienced by the Hmong people during the Vietnam War. For this Fall/Winter 2020 capsule, maharishi has altered this tradition to instead show messages of peace, love and unity across the embroidered pieces.
All of the cloth embroidery pieces from maharishi are available from the brand’s web store now, with prices ranging from £60 GBP T-shirts to £800 GBP tapestries (approximately $80 USD to $1050 USD).
