Kate Middleton's sister Pippa gave birth to her first child – a 8lb and 9oz baby boy – three hours after arriving at the £7,500-a-night Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital.
But while the socialite, 35, has received a flurry of visitors, including her brother James Middleton, there has been one notable missing face.
Her sister Kate, 36, is apparently yet to meet her little nephew – and today we discovered the reason for her absence.
It turns out the duchess was unexpectedly tied up yesterday.
According to a court circular, which documents the Royal Family's engagements, Kate hosted a meeting for one of her charity enterprises, thought to have taken place at Kensington Palace.
It read: "The Duchess of Cambridge this morning held a Meeting of experts convened by the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to inform Her Royal Highness's charitable 'Early Years' initiative."
No photos were taken at the event and it was only announced after it had happened.
The Early Years initiative is part of Kate's campaign to help children who have been failed by "Broken Britain". She believes that the right support will help disadvantaged kids reach their potential.
The duchess and her husband Prince William did release a statement via Kensington Palace saying they are "thrilled" for Pippa and James.
A spokeswoman for Pippa and her husband said: "Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well."
Pippa, who tied the knot last May, announced she was pregnant in June.
She gave birth just days after attending the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
The mum-to-be showed off her blossoming baby bump in a stunning emerald green dress as she entered the chapel with James.
She matched her long-sleeved gown with a hat and a pair of stylish black court heels.
