What Sergio Ramos said to Luke Shaw after sickening injury

Sergio Ramos has sent Luke Shaw a get well soon message after the England defender was taken off on a stretcher during their UEFA Nations League defeat to Spain.

Manchester United star Shaw suffered a sickening head injury during a clash with rival full-back Dani Carvajal at Wembley on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old collided with the Real Madrid defender’s arm shortly after winning a header from a long ball.

Shaw full-back lay prone on the turf for around five minutes, after the incident in the 53rd minute, while a number of medical staff tended to him.

He received oxygen and was carried off on a stretcher after 53 minutes and replaced by Danny Rose.

England confirmed he was being assessed by their doctor, undergoing an X-ray and would stay with the medical team overnight. They also said he is "awake and alert".

And Spanish skipper Ramos tweeted the 23-year-old to wish him well: “Get well soon, @LukeShaw23!" which he accompanied with a series of pray and strong arm emojis.

Shaw then took to Twitter himself and posted: "Thank you for all the love and support I am doing fine and am in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon!"

Spain eventually won the group game 2-1 with Saul and Rodrigo’s strikes cancelling out Marcus Rashford’s goal.
