Unrecognisable Jurassic Park star Ariana Richards addresses return to film

Jurassic Park star Ariana Richards recreates iconic scene

Ariana Richards may look worlds away from her child character in the movie, but fans still recgonise the once popular child actor.

In hit movie Jurassic Park, she played Lex Murphy at 12 years old, which won her several Young Artist awards.

Now aged 43, the American actress turned painter still has a lot of love for the dinosaur film, but no longer works in the industry.

Last month, however, to celebate the franchise’s 30th birthday, Ariana admitted she would love to reprise her character if she fitted into a script.

When asked if she’d like to return, she said: “Oh yeah. Jurassic is one of those things that’s so fun to be part of, so I would always want to enjoy being part of that as Lex, but it’s one of those things that has absolutely grown into a franchise.

“It’s amazing to see how it has affected people through the generations, how the stories have morphed and changed, how the main characters have been brought into the present time.

“Basically I just support the whole endeavour and I support the artistic vision behind it,” Ariana added to Radio Times.

The actress sent fans wild by recreating her iconic jelly scene back in June.

In a video, she dueted with her child actor self and reenacted the moment Lex discovered a Velociraptor after narrowly escaping an attack.

Ariana held onto a spoonful of jelly in her hand and had the same expression she did 30 years ago when the dinosaur’s footsteps caused the dessert to tremble.

As well as Jurassic Park, the movie star has featured in other films such as Angus, where she played a high school cheerleader, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest and Boy Meets World.

Her last acting credit was in the film Battledogs back in 2013.

The actress has since made a living as a painter and she is also a mum to one child.

Ariana’s most recent artwork includes a tribute to Jurassic Park on Instagram.

The artist impressed fans with an oil canvas of a Tyrannosaurus alongside the words: “When dinosaurs ruled the earth.”
