Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet of Crisps is set for a comeback with a one-off special, according to Will Mellor, who played Gaz Wilkinson.
The news comes after Sheridan Smith 37, revealed her disappointment that she hasn’t been recast as Ruth ‘Rudi’ Smith for the Gavin And Stacey Christmas special.
Sheridan famously played Janet Keogh in the sitcom, the wife of 39-year-old Ralf Little’s character Jonny.

You win some, you lose some: The news comes just days after Two Pints star Sheridan Smith (centre) was snubbed from the Gavin And Stacey remake (pictured) as Rudi Smith
The show, which is available on BBC iPlayer, follows the lives of five 20-somethings who live in Runcorn, Cheshire, meeting at a local pub to chat about life.
It aired from 2001-2011.
Actor Will, 43, took to Instagram on Tuesday and revealed that he’s had lots of messages from fans asking for a remake, in the wake of the Gavin And Stacey news.
He said: ‘Alright people, sorry I have not been on for a while, I have been waiting for something to tell you, some news, you know what I mean?
Delighted: Will Mellor, who played Gaz Wilkinson on Two Pints, revealed the news on Instagram Stories
‘Recently, since Two Pints came back, it is on at 11 o’clock every night on Gold, they are showing every episode, people have been messaging me about how much they miss the show and how much it was part of their growing up.
‘They’re saying “please bring it back for a special or do something”. Well, I have been listening and reading your messages and I think we are going to get a Two Pints special off the ground.’
Will said he’s already set the wheels in motion and was keen to let his fans know what information he had.

A step back in time: Sheridan (left) played Ralf Little’s love interest, Janet
He said: ‘I spoke to Susan Nickson (show creator) and we are hopefully going to try and get a Two Pints special going.
‘Just to say thank you for all the support of people who love the show and got behind it.
‘Watch this space, just got to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s and hopefully a Two Pints special will be on the way.’
The show also famously starred Natalie Casey as Donna Henshaw, Gaz’s love interest and Kathryn Drysdale as Louise Brooks.
Coronation Street star Beverley Callard stars as Natalie’s onscreen mother.
Sheridan discussed the Gavin and Stacey remake on Zoe Ball’s Radio Two show on Monday.
She said: ‘I wish. No, I’m not going to be in it, I think.’
Sheridan’s comments come after it was recently confirmed she had departed the role of British porn star Jolene Dollar in Channel 4 drama Adult Material due to ‘conflicting commitments’.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said at the time: ‘Sheridan is not involved due to conflicting commitments.’
Will said: ‘I spoke to Susan Nickson (the show creator) and we are hopefully going to try and get a Two Pints special going’
It comes as Sheridan shut down speculation that she is secretly married to fiancé Jamie Horn, 28.
The actress was quizzed about her marital status during an appearance on This Morning after she shared a picture wearing two bands on her ring finger.
Yet she set the record straight by insisting that the couple have not tied the knot, before hinting that their big day could be right around the corner.
Sheridan explained: ‘I do wear two bands on my hand, mainly because this one is too big and it does keep it on.
‘But Jamie does wear his wedding ring, we’re not actually married, we just do it. My friends do that but no one actually talks about it.
‘We didn’t think about it when we took a picture and put it on Twitter and then of course everyone thought that we were married.’
Sheridan was speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about her current gig headlining the Floating Festivals stage on a cruise ship in Southampton, when talk turned to her wedding, leaving the star looking a little sheepish.
Yet after explaining the reason behind her two rings, Sheridan went on to claim that she could tie the knot any day now aboard the ship.
Revealing that her parents had renewed their wedding vows on a cruise ship, talk soon turned to the chapel on the liner as she said: ‘You never know, maybe during the festival!’
Rumours that Sheridan was already married began when she uploaded two snaps to her Twitter account – one featuring Jamie with a ring on his wedding finger.
The other saw her cuddling up to her partner, one hand on his chest, sporting what appeared to be an engagement ring and a wedding band.
In the snap of Jamie, he was seen concentrating on his phone, watching the football. Sheridan captioned it: ‘My conversation must be riveting.’
Meanwhile, James Corden – who wrote Gavin and Stacey alongside Ruth Jones, and portrayed Gavin’s lovable best mate Smithy – promised the reunion episode will be a ‘nostalgic joy-bomb’.
He said in an interview with the Sunday Times this weekend: ‘We owed it to the characters. Let’s see what they’re doing. We wanted to see if there was something there. Once there was, my feeling was, life’s too short.
‘Fear is the absolute reason to do it. This sounds ridiculously deep but none of us are promised tomorrow. We’re here for a minute, you have to try to do it all.’
Asked whether Brexit could be a topic of debate in the Shipman and West households, James said: ‘We did talk about it. But we just want the new show to be a nostalgic joy-bomb’.
