This Morning viewers were left cringing on Friday after chef Clodagh McKenna burst into a bizarre rap during a cooking segment. 

The Irish cook, 45, was branded ‘bonkers’ by some as created a delicious-looking chicken, mushroom and kale pie for hosts Alison Hammond, 46, and Dermot O’Leary, 47.

The lively cookbook author was full of personality during her appearance so much so she delivered an impromptu rap about ‘pimping’ her pastry, which left Dermot and birthday girl Alison giggling.

Impromptu: This Morning viewers were left cringing on Friday after chef Clodagh McKenna burst into a bizarre rap during a cooking segment

She began: ‘I’m pimping up my pastry OK. If you asked my friends they’d tell you I’m the queen of pimping things up. I love pimping up anything.’

To which Alison shared: ‘I say, I love it up. The more love you put [into it].’

Inspired by Alison’s comments, Clodagh then proceeded to say, ‘I’m loving up my pastry’ before she started an impromptu rap about her pastry and started gesturing her arms out wide.

‘I love pimping up my pastry man,’ she attempted to say in an American accent. ‘I’ve got some pie going on, I’ve got a lil bit of egg wash, we’re making this yo, yo, yo.’

The unscripted performance caused Dermot to laugh into his napkin while Clodagh (pronounced Clo-dah) continued on with the segment.

Despite the trio giggling in studio, some viewers were left bewildered by Clodagh’s performance and took to Twitter to say the segment left them cringing.

One viewer penned: ‘What was that Clodagh? I mean: “Yo, yo, yo…” #ThisMorning’.

‘Clodagh is OFF HER NUT! #ThisMorning,’ another declared.

Although some had their reservations about the chef, many took to social media to beg This Morning bosses to have Clodagh on more often. 

‘They need to team up Clodagh with Alison,’ a viewer shared. ‘I mean it would probably be chaotic but it would at least be funny. 

‘I know some on here aren’t fans of Alison but she does have her funny moments #ThisMorning’.

A fourth penned: ‘Clodagh on is killing me Love it! Making cooking really fun’ [sic].

Aside from impromptu musical performance on This Morning, Clodagh also baked Alison a special carrot cake with orange blossom frosting for her birthday.
