The Crown ‘bosses are struggling to find a boy to play a young Prince Harry in series five because of a shortage of ginger actors’
The Crown bosses are reportedly struggling to find a boy to play a young Prince Harry because there is a shortage of ginger-haired actors.
Prince Harry is due to appear in the fifth series of the hit Netflix show and will be shown from ages 6 to 13, covering the years 1990 to 1997.
According to The Sun, bosses are considering dying a child actor’s hair red so he bears an adequate resemblance to the Duke of Sussex.

A source told the publication: ‘Bosses have incredibly high standards when it comes to the actors they hire.
‘So any wannabe cast member already has to tick a long line of boxes. But with the role of young Harry they wanted another crucial box ticking.
‘That’s proved incredibly difficult but they’re determined to cast the right actor and are considering taking any steps necessary to make him look the part.’
Harry was previously played by Arran Tinker in the fourth series but only briefly.

There are several poignant moments which could be used, including the Queen making a speech on her 40th anniversary of her accession in 1992, in which she called the year an ‘annus horriblis’.
She was referring to the breakdown of three of her children’s marriages; Prince Andrew, Princess Anne’s and Prince Charles’ divorce from Princess Diana.
Other noteable events during the time period included a fire at Windsor Castle, her golden wedding anniversary in 1997, and the deaths of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother and the Princess of Wales.
