Bachelor Nation, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for!
Well, not exactly.
Still no fence jump from our leading man Colton Underwood, but on Monday night we saw The Bachelor take his final four ladies home to meet their families, and as per usual, the hometown dates really delivered!
Here’s how it all went down with Caelynn, Hannah G., Tayshia, and Cassie:
Contents
Hometown Date With Caelynn
Caelynn brought Colton to her hometown of Fredericksburg, VA for a quintessential romantic, small town date. The pair cuddled while taking a horse-drawn carriage ride around town before stopping for some ice cream. Caelynn used that one-on-one time to brief Colton on what he’ll be walking into before meeting her family.
The pageant beauty’s family is sweet and welcoming, but seem very skeptical about the whole “process” of the show. Caelynn’s stepdad John goes the extra mile to grill Colton and make sure that he’s sincere in his feelings for her.
Despite the fact that the 26-year-old admits he’s not sure if Caelynn is the one, John gives Colton his blessing for a proposal when and if the time comes. Not a bad start to the night!
Hometown Date with Hannah G.
Next, we get a taste of what the South is really all about when Hannah G. takes Colton home to Birmingham, Alabama. The blonde-haired beauty opts for a truly unique date choice when she takes Colton to good ol’ Southern etiquette class! Did anyone else forget she was from the South, too?
The lessons are cute, but pretty much useless because Hannah G’s family is so chill! They all enjoy a casual dinner together before hitting the bachelor with the tough questions. Luckily, the 26-year-old passes their test and is granted permission to propose.
Hometown Date with Tayshia
Tayshia decided to kick things up a notch in her relationship with Colton, before taking him home to meet her parents. The phlebotomist served Colton some payback for their previous bungee jumping date by taking him skydiving in her hometown of Orange County.
But that’s not all!
Tayshia takes one more leap of faith, and tells Colton that she’s falling in love with him before he meets her tough-as-nails dad and rest of her family. And it’s a good thing that she did, as her dad Desmond Sr. did not hold back his reservations about their path to a speedy engagement.
Colton tries his best to prove that he’s in love with Tayshia, but her dad shuts it down pretty quickly:
“You say you’re falling in love with her, that’s a strong word. You seem like a smart man, so I’m sure you can pick the right words. Sometimes if somebody is falling back on the default word of saying ‘falling in love,’ that’s the wrong thing to be doing. You’re just creating a web.”
Yikes… that definitely doesn’t sound good. Colton still persists and asks for Tayshia’s hand in marriage and is denied.
But after having a heart-to-heart with his daughter, Desmond comes around and decides to give his stamp of approval! Three down, one to go!
Hometown Date with Cassie
Oh man, this date was pretty cringeworthy from the start!
Sure Colton can probably throw a football for miles, but the guy cannot surf to save his life! It made for a pretty amusing surfing activity with Cassie at her hometown of Huntington Beach, CA. But he wasn’t the only one struggling here…
At this point, Cassie tells Colton that she doesn’t want to tell him she’s falling in love with him before she’s ready, despite him having already done so. She credits needing her to hear her family’s opinion before making that kind of declaration — but her family doesn’t provide much help this episode either!
Later on in the evening, Cassie’s family isn’t sold on their connection, and starts to poke holes in their already uncertain relationship. The 23-year-old’s father Matt puts it plainly, saying:
“I didn’t have a strong initial opinion of Colton because I don’t like to draw judgment to quickly. I could tell Colton was being affectionate with Cassie. I don’t know if that’s what he does with all the girls he goes out with. We don’t know him. He seemed like a … guy.”
The Rose Ceremony
After it was all said and done, the girls returned to L.A. for a shocking rose ceremony where Colton sends Caelynn home. The brunette beauty is “blindsided” and receives nothing but a hug from Colton as she breaks down in tears.
Seriously, no explanation dude? What gives?! Their hometown date was nearly perfect! Sigh.
And there you have it, guys! We are down to the final three and getting closer to the Fantasy Suites, which should prove to be inneresting for our virgin Bachelor.
Tune in and see how the rest of Colton’s journey unfolds next week during a special two-night event Monday and Tuesday night at 8p.m. on ABC.
